The 99 Percent alliance has has open-sourced their authentication code, so you can make some small changes and hook up your own forums, jabber and voice chat servers.
I probably should investigate this further; it looks pretty cool.

keen to have a go with this for our alliance, am I reading it wrong or can this run under either Win7 or Linux?
It can run on both. I’d have set it up already but you refused to give me the api.
Maybe you’re confused about what happened, I didn’t refuse to give you the API, I wasn’t sure how to generate it or if it was possible, since I’ve never done it before and when I had a look at the API management for the holding corp CEO, I couldn’t see anything for alliance key. I replied to your mail as below: (note at time of my response I had no idea what you were trying to achieve, what alliance auth even was (didn’t know it existed), had you provided me with a little more information initially such as a link to do some reading I probably could have worked it out.
Also remember running the alliance comes after my RL, and seemingly before my actual game time which is funny since games are meant to be fun, so keep in mind I’m a busy person in all respects and appreciate a bit of assistance when it comes to running the show, how about you jump on comms for a change and say g’day to the alliance and we can work out how to save the alliance leadership some time and effort.

Not possible as far as I can tell, can only create corporation API keys, not alliance, unless I’m missing something.
I’m the CEO of the alliance holding corp (SOA) so don’t think it’s possible.
What were you hoping to achieve?

To: Governor Front-Bottom,
hi. doing some development and need an alliance api key (just public info + contacts so it can pull standings, no member lists or anything needed)
Is that possible to get? I don’t mind if it has a time limit, as long as it’s not something stupid like 1 week.
I did reply on the 29th. Learning about cloud deployments atm, perhaps there’s something useful to be gained there.
You’re right, I missed that one when I was looking through to see wtf happened with this… my bad

But IIRC if holding corp has standings towards an entity, the alliance does. Maybe a corp key for SOA is all I need.
Am learning about devops by setting this up:
https://github.com/R4stl1n/allianceauth
The whole thing doesn’t work without at least a minimal alliance API key.
I’m still not sure how to generate the right key, but I haven’t read all the documentation yet… meant to be on holidays and I’ve worked 3 days lol
