Bulk Trade mailing list: run by a scammer?

So, an alliance mate asked me for some advice about a situation she found herself.

There’s an evemail mailing list called bulk trade that’s notable as being a good place to buy and sell large amounts of mass-produced goods at a reasonable price. The list is moderated by W3370Pi4, and according to his bio:

which presumably means that scams make him angry.

Which is unfortunate, since he appears to be a scammer himself, judging by this evemail conversation.

yes its my alt

For those who don’t know, the Prototype Iris Probe Launcher came with the Zephyr exploration ship, given out to capsuleers during the Apocrypha expansion. Notably, it can only be used on the Zephyr, and by unpacking, stripping and repackaging a Zephyr, you can make as many as you want for free. Like Civilian Miners from rookie ships, they’re essentially worthless and have no business being offered on a ‘bulk trade’ mailing list, especially when not in bulk.

Considering that the rules of his own mailing list state:

“Manipulating any markets and dumping stock falsly priced on the mailing list will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate ban for all the characters linked.”

Whether it was ignorance or malice, it really isn’t a good look either way.

I call on W3370Pi4 to make a public statement apologising to that mailing list for attempting to scam the members of his own list, and what actions he will take to regain their trust.

I’ve actually been subscribed to the mailing list for well over a year but for different sets of reasons. Anything i make i can sell myself somewhere in any number of regions over time so i’ve never actually emailed or posted anything in Bulk Mail List. I don’t ever mass produce anything to really need to quickly sell thousands of stuff to avoid going under.

Though i’ve seen what other people are producing/making and thus selling when they send out a mail deal. How does the list serves me…… for me Its all INTEL on what people are producing/making that I may now be quite aware of that exist or have a BP for to make. It gives me pause to look at some mail someone sent out and wonder exactly what is that thing they have 1000 copied of that they are selling. Maybe its something i forget to manufacture in a while, hmm. Then i go see how it looks in my region and consider my next thought. Sometimes having good intel in what people are making can help more than not knowing.

However I can’t say i pay attention to all the hundreds of emails that are sent out a day to pay attention to any specific one or if one is from a scammer. Or if the Bulk Mail list itself is run by a would be scammer. No clue here and not much time to even look to check. Most the time i go days/weeks not even looking at the Bulk List as it gets huge. Often just usually open mail and mass delete all the mail in the Bulk Mail folder and for majority of time thats how it is for me. I may just scan the list before I delete to see if a mod in the list sounds interesting.

But i guess the Bulk Mail list does have rules, so if its been actively run or manipulated by a scammer to the list members then thats also new to me and i guess he should come clean about it if he’s now been caught.

Why am i never surprised when such things eventually gets revealed in EVE.
