There’s a new Dust 514 dev blog out, detailing the game mechanics around planetary control by dust corporations.
This is a really promising rule set, from a game design point of view. It encourages corps to fight local battles, handles time zone issues fairly well, and rewards large corps that have the numbers to defend multiple attacks per day during the window of vulnerability.
Bit disappointed tbh. This isn’t actually an Eve tie-in is it? Conquering a planet seems like it won’t stop PI or interdict the customs office. So rather unintuitively enemy Eve players can be raising and exporting cows, mechanical parts etc from the planet that’s conquered.
It’s more important to have conflict and ownership in dust than tie ins with eve at present. After all, one game is about to go live; the other one is full of players with patience.
The longer term thing is who knows what it will evolve into eventually once DUST has its feet under it and as relates to PI. I guess if you were one that started EVE way back in 2003 it quite likely don’t look anything like what it appears to be today.
